Fremantle’s Best Restaurants

Premium baked goods using locally and ethically sourced ingredients. We bake fresh every day.

There has long been a massive list of reasons to visit Fremantle, from South Beach to Fremantle Prison to the Markets, but the key attraction drawing even the most stubborn of city dwellers down to this seaside suburb is the food coming out of Fremantle’s best restaurants.

After eating our way from the North to the South (and slanting a little back up to the East), we’ve found all the places to stop in this foodie’s haven. Here are the best restaurants in Fremantle, in no particular order.

Bib & Tucker | North Fremantle

Open Mon-Fri 6am-1pm, Sat-Sun 7am-2pm

Boasting one of the best beachside views in Perth, Bib & Tucker is the perfect spot for an after swim cocktail (or, even better, build your own G&T with their wide range of Gin and Tonics) in your slides on a hot summers day or that long lunch you’ve been dreaming of while sitting at your desk all week. The modern Australian menu is the perfect complement to the exquisite views and it definitely does not fail to deliver on taste.

Young George | East Fremantle

Open Mon-Sun 7am-3pm

Nestled in a beautiful heritage building in Fremantle, Young George on George Street is a unique neighbourhood bar with a serious focus on food. Purveyors of craft wine, beer, cider and spirits, grab a table at the bar and settle in with friends for an after-work catch up as a buzz of lively conversation surrounds you and peruse a globally inspired menu of share plates. Rusticity abounds with stone walls with brick feature archways, polished concrete and black table settings, while the downstairs cellar is an ideal area for private parties and group bookings. Kick start a culinary adventure by grazing on smoked pork jowl, fermented cabbage, apple, gochujang, maple and puffed grains; moving onto larger plates of charred mutton neck, pastrami spices, white bean cream, kraut and mustard.

Bread In Common | Fremantle

Open Mon-Fri 8am-2pm, Sat-Sun 8:30am-1pm

When talking Fremantle food there would be no list without Bread In Common. Prior to its establishment, the Fremantle food scene was about BYO pizza and pasta (not that there is anything wrong with that) but Bread in Common upped the ante when they came along with their menu inspired by locally sourced, seasonal produce based all around—you know it—bread. Their long tables and shared menu make them the perfect spot to break bread with your friends.

Habitue | North Fremantle

Open Mon-Fri 6:30am-3:30pm, Sat-Sun 6:30am-2:30pm

This quaint little gem hidden in North Fremantle is 100% worth finding. An unassuming restored Fremantle character home makes the perfect setting for a cosy, relaxed meal with good vibes. Their menu focuses on fresh local produce and changes seasonally. As does their wine list. Not only does Habitue deliver on food and atmosphere but they often feature live music—the trifecta.

Manuka | North Fremantle

Open Mon-Fri 6:30am-3:30pm, Sat-Sun 6:30am-2:30pm

With a chef and owner whose culinary career has taken him from the Michelin starred kitchens of Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing in London, to celebrated two-hatted Walters Wine Bar in Melbourne, there’s no denying that Manuka Woodfire Kitchen is in very good hands.

Chef Kenny McHardy is doing some pretty phenomenal stuff at the helm; with the woodfire oven celebrated as the hero of the kitchen and their only form of cooking. The staff are all so, so friendly, and you can see how passionate the team are about food, produce and wine when you dine here.

Sandrino| Fremantle

Open Mon-Fri 6:30am-2pm, Sat-Sun 7am-2pm

Even after a move to the iconic Cappuccino Strip, Sandrino still serves up delicious and affordable Italian food. Their large servings make them ideal to share or indulge in yourself, from salads and beer-battered chips to a variety of pizzas and seafood. Sandrino is always a safe bet that will make even the fussiest of eaters happy with their food choice. For the vegans out there, Sandrino also allows you to change ingredients in the meals to cater your preference.
